Clocks have 12 sections. And every section has 5 minutes. In total, you have 60 minutes. Have them count up to the highest number they can. Check their pronunciation. Content Indicator Tells the time and reads the time on a clock. CEFR A1.2: Can indicate time with phrases like next week, last Friday, in November, three o’clock . Cognitive Strategy: Practicing 1. Go over the text provided at the beginning of the lesson. Then, tell students to repeat the numbers up to 60, after the audio. Do this several times. Then have them identify the patterns and practice counting by fives. Cognitive Strategy: Using resources 2. Copy a bigger version of the clock and hands below and have students make and assemble the clock. Ask students to identify the numbers they see outside the clock’s dial. • Go over the Help Desk section and make sure students understand the other meaning of the word hand (not as a part of the body, though these are really ‘the hands’ of the clock). • Choose students to read the information about clocks. As they read, reinforce the concepts by having them identify the short and long hands of their own clocks and set their clocks to the times suggested in the reading.
