Have students draw and make flashcards with the words presented in exercise 2. They may include some from the warm-up activity. If students work in pairs, they can use the two sets of cards to play a memory game. Some books and stories about learning English are Richard Scarry’s Best Word Book Ever , My Very First Book of Words by Eric Carle, My First Counting Book by Lilian Moore and Garth Williams, and Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?, by Bill Martin and Eric Carle. Memory Strategy: Using imagery 3. Have students look at the pictures and, as they listen, repeat the numbers. Then, name the animals they see: donkey, dogs, pigs, cats, horses, cows, chickens, sheep, bees, and birds . Students don’t need to know or learn these words now but keep practicing. Have students count the animals on each picture and trace the words. Memory Strategy: Associating and elaborating 4. Be aware that indigo is a color between blue and violet. Then, explain to the students they have to color the picture using the number code. Monitor their progress.
