Vocabulary and Expressions Lesson 2 Reading Practice Warm up Provide each student with a piece of paper and a pencil. On the board, model how to draw a circle that will be a head. Point to it and say: Look at my head . Help students to draw their head on the paper. Then, add two eyes to the head you drew on the board. Say: Look at my eyes . Have students draw their eyes on the paper. Repeat the same procedure with their nose, mouth, and ears. Encourage students to add other features like hair and the color of their skin to make their pictures look like them. Display all the pictures. Finally, point to one of the body parts in this lesson (ears, nose, eyes, hair, face, mouth) and help students say: Look at my (ears). Practice Look at the cutout page with students and help them name the body parts they see in the three rectangles. Ask students to cut them out. Next, go around the classroom and, holding up the rectangles that students have just cut out, say the names of the body parts in them. Have the class repeat the words chorally. Now, ask students to open their books on page 7. Help them organize the parts of the baby’s face and paste them in order. Now, ask students to match the face parts with the words around using different colored pencils. Then, play the audio a couple of times and ask them to repeat. Play it again and have students point to the body parts on the page and repeat their names. Application Play the song My Face a couple more times. Mime the actions and have students copy you. Explain that although people are different from each other, everyone is special and unique. Make a circle with students and sing and mime the song together. It is important for students to learn to be respectful from a young age. Have each of them present their artwork by saying: Look at my (eyes) . Make sure no one interrupts the student who is talking or says anything negative about their work. By doing so, you will help to create a nice classroom atmosphere. Teaching Tip Refer to the pictures that students just created and emphasize the idea that they all have the same body parts, but that they are all unique and different. Play the song My Face . Encourage them to join you in singing the song. Extra Activity Presentation Play a variation of the game Simon Says . Ask students to stand up, then pretend you are Simon, and give them the following instructions: Look at my (eyes) . Have them look at your eyes and touch their own eyes. Change the instructions quickly: Look at my ears, Look at my nose, etc. Students who fail to follow the instructions immediately or who make mistakes are asked to sit down and watch those who still remain in the game. My Face Look at my ears, Look at my nose, Look at my eyes, No one like me! They make me special. Sing with me. Look at my hair, Look at my face, Look at my mouth, I am unique! They make me special.
